NEW PRODUCT – Thule Pack ‘n Pedal – bike racks & bag system

Thule Pack n Pedal bike racks bag system

One of the best new products at Eurobike 2012 was a range of bike racks and bags from the kings of the car roof, Thule, called Pack ‘n Pedal. Designed to fit almost any bike and with the Thule DNA of quality, innovation and design clearly evident, Pack ‘n Pedal is being marketed as – ‘a new generation of bike racks and bags for city commuting as well as outdoor adventures‘.

The rear rack mounting system doesn’t use any screws or bolts but utilises a ground breaking strap and ratchet system that fits neatly around the diagonal seat stays. The mechanism is fully adjustable in tilt so that it is compatible with different frame geometries and sizes.

“Biking has always been a strong passion for the Thule brand, and we are proud to present our entry into a new product category around the bike”, says Magnus Welander, Thule Group CEO. “We have put together a smart system of products with innovative racks and cool bags for different needs, which work just as well on the bike as when they are carried around. As always with Thule, we have focused on ease of use, safety and quality. And of course, the well-recognized and stylish Thule design”.

For the comprehensive Pack ’n Pedal range, Thule has developed a revolutionary handlebar attachment with various accessories (bag, wallet, iPad/map holder) and a family of top-of-the line pannier bags. Thule has also acquired the rights for the much praised Freeload bike racks. The New Zealand-designed racks offer a superior solution that can be used both in the front and the back, and fit with virtually every type of bike in the market.

“When we started Freeload to develop a system for load carrying on bikes, we were inspired by the Thule load carrying systems and products for cars. We set out to design a modular platform that could be used by riders universally in much the same way”, says Freeload founder and director Pat Maguire. “To see Thule introduce our rack to the rest of the world as part of their new and innovative Pack ‘n Pedalℱ product range is very exciting for us”.

Winning the Eurobike Award acknowledges that we are doing right when it comes to launching innovative solutions for the demanding bicycle industry. This is a certificate that the Thule Pack ’n Pedalℱ initiative is exactly right for the conscious bike consumer of today

The weatherproof Thule Pack ’n Pedalℱ bags come with small hard shell SafeZoneℱ compartments and separate computer storage, keeping valuables safe and easily accessible. The design of the bags makes them easy to load and use as normal bags. They also come with compression buckles to reduce size when the bag is empty. The range is designed to be easy to use and practical both on and off the bike with a revolutionary attachment system allowing having no attachments scraping against the body, and comfortable handles make the bags easy to carry.

In recognition of the quality and innovation of Thule Pack ’n Pedal products, they have been awarded with the Eurobike Award for ‘Best Accessory’ at Eurobike 2012. “Winning the Eurobike Award acknowledges that we are doing right when it comes to launching innovative solutions for the demanding bicycle industry. This is a certificate that the Thule Pack ’n Pedalℱ initiative is exactly right for the conscious bike consumer of today” said an excited Magnus Welander.

The Thule Pack ‘n Pedal product range will be available in selected independent bike shops in major cities in Europe, North and South America in late 2012. A wider launch in more stores and an extended range with several more products in the family will follow in 2013.
